Cote d’Ivoire Market Watch | June 22nd 2015: BRVM Equity markets begin higher today, market cap XOF 37 billion
Abidjan, Cote d’Ivoire (Capital Markets in Africa):- BRVM (The Regional Stock Exchange of eight West Africa) closed its trading session this Monday, higher than the previous day. BRVM 10 index rose from 270.71 to 272.20 points, a gain of 0.55 percent. BRVM Composite index gained 0.55 percent to 274.12 against 272.62 points previously. In the same way, the equity market capitalization edged by XOF 37.02 billion to close at XOF 6,764.09 billion compared with previous trading sessions’ market capitalization of XOF 6,727.07 billion.
The market activity was thin today with the total volume at 36,927 compared to volume of 789,950 recorded at previous trading sessions and total traded value was at XOF 561.74 million (against XOF 3,368 million recorded at previous trading session) exchanged in 26 traded securities through 190 deals. In addition, today’s top stock by volume was ECOBANK TRANSNATIONAL INCORPORATION Togo with 18,593 traded shares (accounted for about 50.4 percent of the total volume) and CIE COTE D’IVOIRE recorded the highest turnover of XOF 209.40 million (accounted for almost 37.3 percent of total turnover). The Liquidity ratio (measured by Volume traded/ Ask orders volume) ended at 2.38 percent and Price Earnings Ratio was recorded at 19.79.
In term of the price shakers and laggards, out of the 26 traded securities there were 9 price gainers, 4 laggards and 13 remained flat, hence market breathe end at positive. TOTAL COTE D’IVOIRE surged by 7.50 percent to end at XOF 376,250 and SETAO COTE D’IVOIRE climbed by 7.50 percent to conclude at XOF 48,535. Likewise, FILTISAC COTE D’IVOIRE advanced by 4.51 percent to settle at XOF 26 400 and BANK OF AFRICA NIGER added 3.90 percent with a closing price of XOF 80,000.
On the contrary, NESTLE COTE D’IVOIRE plunged by 1.99 percent to trade at XOF 59,000 and UNIWAX COTE D’IVOIRE tumbled by 1.75 percent to close at XOF 28,000. Similarly, BANK OF AFRICA BURKINA FASO and TOTAL SENEGAL declined by 1.03 percent to close at XOF 96,000 and 0.72 percent to end at XOF 27,700 respectively.
From sector viewpoint, industry sector index climbed by 0.10 percent, public utilities surged by 0.38 percent and financial services sector index went up by 0.59 percent. Likewise, distributions sector index rose 2.25 percent and miscellaneous sector index increased by 7.50 percent. On the contrary, transportation and agriculture remained unchanged.
